It is official now. I'm really doing what I say I'm doing and I've got a link to prove it. InternetMovieDataBase - Zabiegly
As a side business I've been doing some talks and guest lectures lately. In addition to the "Basics of Computer Animation" course that I did at the University of Applied Sciences Deggendorf I gave talks at

This is my series of examples of Xpresso setups taken right out of real life production. I hope with posting these I can help people get started in Xpresso and see what can be done with this tool. Examples range from rather entry level to more advanced ones. They are for people who have already looked at Xpresso before but you neither need expert knowledge nor have graduated from maths to understand and follow the examples. Every shot comes with a pdf file where I explain what each node does and also why I used it the way I did and what the ideas behind it are. It's not a step by step "click here do that" tutorial but a broader look at Xpresso from a real life perspective. Hopefully you find my Shots of Xpresso inspiring to create your own setups. This is a series that will be frequently updated. Please click here for a Shot of Xpresso |

Here's a quick and easy way to automate your workflow. It works much like creating makros in MS Word or Actions in Adobe Photoshop. Go to CommandManager > search for ScriptLog and hit "execute". That's your "Recording Window". All the commands and tools you execute in Cinema4d will be listed here. When you're done simply copy/paste the list of CallCommands into a new and empty script, save it and assign it to a hotkey or button in your interface. And there's your c4d makro/action.
Two sets of mini scripts made that way:

After creating the Place of Mind image I got requests by some people to write a tutorial about the process of making it. As an italian 3d magazine also asked if I could write something about it I started making a short tutorial out of it. It's not software specific but gives a general overview over the production process. Overview of the creative process behind creating the "A place of mind" picture. |

My very first book got published! Actually it's the thesis paper I wrote for my diploma but a publisher got interested and now you can buy it at every good bookstore. It's german only and aimed at real beginners with 3d graphics. All the basics are covered and after reading the book you should have the theoretical knowledge to do a short film production from pre-production over producing actual 3d animations to post-production and mastering everything on a DVD. One place to buy the book would be Amazon.
Two articles I wrote during my MA studies: Article1: One man companies with hundreds of employees - The structure of the visual effects industry in a globalized business (pdf, 76kb) Article2: A bright shining lie - Synthespians, why we don't like them, and their future role in cinema (pdf, 133kb) |

DigitalTutors posted an interview that they did with me. So if you're interested in some really deep insights to my private life I suggest you head there and read it.
I released my summer reel '08 and only two days later it got featured at the frontpage of 3dTotal. That nearly brought my server to its knees but still is a nice reference to have :) |
